carb rebuild

Was wondering who I should send my 300 carb to have rebuilt, I would do it myself but time isnt allowing that right now.I have carb off of the manifold and can only find a number 5 stamped on it?, any comments, suggestions, etc would be appreciated

Any local carb rebuilding shop can do a good job. Finding one might be more difficult as carbs are not common today. Give them a good quality Kit, and they should do a good job. Don"t Go with Denney"s Carb Shop. Not a courteous place of business. You have no profile on modern view so we cannot help locate a shop. Jim

(quoted from post at 04:42:12 04/16/14) OK JIm i updated my profile, was wondering whoes carb this is, can only find the number 5 on carb?

It is an IH carb. You'll need to carefully scrape away some crud, and then you SHOULD find a small, round, brass tag, riveted to the top, towards the outside, located right close to where the governor tube attaches.

OK found tag with numbers 361525R92,I would have never guessed thats where the numbers would have been, Thanks for the help!!!!!!!

No problem. The dirt and other crud can easily hide that tag. Unless, you KNOW it is there, you'd never find it.

(quoted from post at 12:24:12 04/16/14) due you have a recommendation on a rebuild kit, and someone who can do it?

Due to the configuration of the choke shaft on that carburetor, a complete rebuild kit is not available, but you probably do not need a complete kit anyhow. Most likely all you need is a gasket set and a new float valve and seat. I used to rebuild them, but really don't care to do it anymore. You do not want to do business with Denny's Carb shop. Don't know if Robert's Carb repair might be interested? Robert's caters to John Deere, but I think they'll work on the Farmalls.

As an afterthought, maybe you could contact the folks here at YT?

I have sold about a dozen "restoration quality" Farmall carbs in the past 10 years. Superior paint and polish, complete rebuild inside.
Offered 90 DAY WARRANTEE, and complete money back guarantee if not satisfied. Never had one email back about adjustment or anything.
Here"s An H an H and a SM.
I just do it as a service to members and not a business,
I did do my first two carb rebuilds in 1956 as a teenager, they were Stromberg 97's for my Ford flathead hot rod engine.
Email is open

GordoSD, you do some very nice work! I'd like to talk to you about maybe rebuilding my H carb... a 50981DB. You may have seen my posts about breaking the idle jet, etc. I'm pretty frustrated to say the least.

let me know the best way to contact you... I dont see your email address...

thanks
