300 runs wont run

Had the time to work on my road this past weekend, rousted the 300 from her long winters nap, drove her down the road 2 miles ran great , picked up 6 foot rake and turned around to go home , half way home she started to run rough, to the point of stalling, she would start right back up and could go a distance, and the same thing would happen, decided to check fuel flow which was fine, tap on carb fuel bowl, and that seem to make her run better for awhile, used some carb cleaner thru jet just below governor and she relly ran well for about 10 minutes, then quit running and would only fire and run for 3 seconds, wondering what you guys think?

Fuel flow.If you have good flow from the bowl, good flow to the carb,Pull the screen from the inlet at carb.If thats clean, you probably have some crap in the needle.Disassemble carb, unscrew seat. the 'crap' will be there.Pull the drain pulg from the bottom ofd carb. Let run for 3-5 mins. fuel should run out the entire time.If not, there is a blockage.

If you have good fuel flow, did you check it at the line going into the carb? Its sounds like you might be haveing trouble with fuel flow at the float/needle valve inside the carb. Could be dirt, but needle valve sticking closed is a better guess.

Some carb rebuild kits have rubber tipped needle valves. My experience has been these rubber tipped needly valves stick worse than the all metal ones. Sometime's I'll try a good cleaning before using lesser quality replacement parts. My 2 cents.
