b414 hydraulics

Hi All,
It's a long story and I won't post it all here, but last December I acquired a B414 from a 90 year old WWII vet who crewed on nearly 100 bomber missions over Germany. His pride was this B414 He has not been well and is now in a nursing home. I got it last December after setting 2 years neglected. Some parts were stolen from it but I got it running and rode it 6 miles to my home in very cold weather.I am trying to do a sort of restore to take it backday to him to see a last time. I have lots of questions, but to keep this reasonably short I'll summarize to date. I've changed fuel, oil, both filters, cleaned hydraulic screen and filled with hydraulic fluid. battery terminals, and all glow plugs. It had no hydraulics when I picked it up. I tried to start it today and hydraulic fluid spews from the flow divider valve,(it has power steering) Upon investigating the divider valve has two lines coming from the pump, two going to the rear and two going to the steering. There is a 7th port just below the two from the pump with nothing connected. That is where the fluid was pouring from. What is connected here?
PS If anyone would like to send Harry a card to thank him for his service message me and I'll provide his address. His days are long and he is an amazing guy.

han, we REALLY need a photo here, 'cuz a "7 port flow divider" on a 414 would be even more rare than your veteran buddy (NO disrespect intended) and it AIN'T gonna be in the parts catalog!

(BTW, thank him again for his service while we try to sort this out!)

I'm trying to post a photo I took this morning. The hole shown is to the front (pump) and toward ground. The two line above the opening go to the pump I'm thinking maybe this is where the valve mechanism goes but there's nothing there. The IH parts diagram referred to in another reply shows the valve toward the rear not the front. Thanks for your help and I'll pass your thanks on, though I don't see Harry very often.

I think I've figured out that all the internals of the flow divider are missing. The Case/IH website says superceded without giving a reference so I guess I'll call tomorrow to see if they can tell me if anything's available. Know of any salvage yard that might carry these?

Hi, does the B414 have a power steering cylinder on the left side of the tractor or does it have two cylinders by the front axle? The British Bradford build B414,434,444,384,B275,276,354,364 and industrial models 3414 and 3444 series tractors, were shipped to Louisville on crates and they were assembled there using different electrical, front axles and power steering systems that were common to USA build tractors.
The British assembled ones that were delivered to Canada had a Lucus electric system and the power steering was supplied by a second hydraulic "Dual" pump that was attached to the rear of the primary pump.

Re your photo, I was trying to determine if the empty hole was threaded or a C-clip grove in the inside? It sure looks like that is where the flow divider valve would be installed. I would search the caeeih.com parts on the models I mentioned above looking for a similar flow divider valve.

Good luck

Hi Jim,
It has single steering cylinder on left. It's a diesel so don't know about electrics. I'm sure all the internals of the divider are missing. there is an O-Ring groove inside the open port or maybe it's a C-Ring groove. So I'll be hunting for the valve, spring, caps, retainers etc. I checked the IH parts diagram and most of the parts say superseded without any reference to what superseded them. It does have the single hydraulic pump. Thanks for your response.
