Super MD again

We got spark to the plugs today but the old plugs have had it. It would almost start but just wouldn't catch. What do you guys use for spark plugs in these old things? They look at me like I'm from outer space at napa when I show them the old plugs.

Champion D89D. They can be difficult to find anymore but they ARE available. Google is helpful...

The others gave you the part number. I would heat them with a propane torch to burn off deposits and give them a second chance. That engine takes quite a bit of choke to run at first. Jim

Formerly Champion D89D, now Champion 543. Last I got was from NAPA who got them on next day order. Brillman also had them last I knew. Pricey either way, but they work.

I think those plugs will work unless the tips are burnt off, I put them in blast cabinet when they get carboned up, and they always work like a charm, getting fuel is usually the problem

Thanks again guys. I cleaned up the old ones and got it to almost start today. Its so close to starting but I just can't make it catch

Set the ignition timing, and make sure the butterfly valves in the intake manifold are fully shut. If hanging open even a tiny bit it won't start. Jim

I would just pull it if you can. If it almost catches with the starter it will start on a chain or belt.
