I just installed the three point hitch. Does the fill cap need to be vented? Appreciate any help I can get.

If the hydraulic return line is plumbed into the fill pipe under the tank, it might only need the return plumbed into the drain hole with a "T" fitting. The rush of returning oil can splash out and run out the fill cap.
If the cylinder/s are 2 way, the top of the cylinder/s can be hosed to th reservoir allowing a near neutral balance of oil in the reservoir. This would allow the cap to be non vented. If the cylinder/s are one way only, the top of the cylinder/s should be vented, and the cap should also have a vent. The use of the return into the bottom is a solid solution if the valving is not a "christmas tree" IH valve (which attaches to the inlet pipe as a mount) Jim

There is only one line on bottom of cylinder it is attached to fitting on right side of tractor. Top fitting on cylinder is not vented nor is the fill cap. I'll try venting both. Is there a plug 1/2 pipe plug that is vented to put in top of cylinder? Can I drill a small hole I fill cap for it to vent?

Wheres it leaking at? How much oil did you add to it? Just sounds like you overfilled it to me. The cylinder does need to be vented. There are filters for that purpose, but drilling a small hole in a plug will work.

There is a Tin cover just behind pump under tractor it's leaking from there. I'm not sure how much oil is in system. There is no dipstick. When I put a long stick down in fill cap it's 11 inches from top to oil level.

For temp measures, take the plug out of the top hole on the cylinder, and see what it does. It shouldnt lower much with the plug in it to start with.

I removed the plug from top of cylinder and removed fill cap I ran hydraulics up and down it ran smooth with no leaking. Thanks for the help. I'll look into getting both plug and cap vented. Thanks again for your help.
