856 mw turbo

Been looking at a 856 with M&W turbo set up. That's not the reason I want it, the reason I do is that the tractor is very straight and in good overall condition. The bad side is that the turbo is leaking oil badly from around the compressor housing. The owner says the turbo is out, and the tractor smokes but sounds good. It can be bought quite reasonable for $2850, my only concern is the turbo, and the fact that is has prob been pulled hard. Should I stay away from it? I had thoughts of putting an OEM manifold on and going back to original. To me the tractor would be a good candidate for restoration, from what I can see. It shifts good and don't seem to make any unusual noises, shows 65xx hours. Thoughts?

At $2850 my only thought is why are you on the computer here asking us about it, instead of out hauling it home? A running, driving, shifting, STRAIGHT 856 for $2850. With a M&W set up on it. You can get that turbo rebuilt or go with a very nice replacement for a less than a grand.

Good thing i don't know where it is at or it would be a Buckeye tractor so fast your head would spin and by Thursday a NEW Hairdrier would be setting on the manifold. At that price the engine could be on it's last legs and i would care less.
