The WD9 on the trailer.

Got the WD9 home yesterday. It never hurts to have a friend with a forklift and it sure made loading a lot easier. The seller wanted a lot more money if it left with the right tire on. We loaded it and then pulled the tire off.

I was so preoccupied with the motor that I didn't notice that it also had weights _inside_ the wheel!
Each wheel had a #150 pound wheel weight, a 3" thick weight (300 lbs?) and a 2" thick weight on the inside. Lot of iron back there.

It came with the hood but I've already got it off in the photo.

It looks like a good project. Fairly complete and the sheet metal looks pretty good. I am always happy to see someone rescue a WD-9. What is the status of the engine?

Kind of a crappy thing, I know, to part such a complete machine. It will be saving a my TD9 though and I can find a home for the rest of the parts. The grill looks better in the photos than it is. It could be straightened out with some patience.

The motor is loose and all the water had been drained. No water in the oil but it is fuel diluted. I get about 90 degrees of rotation and then it gets tight so it may have some surface rust in one cylinder. I may pull the head and touch up the valves before I put it too use.

At least its parts will be put to good use. Does it have a pto shield and/or the rear tail light bracket?

I just trailered my W-9 home a couple weekends ago and need a few parts. The picture shows us getting it boomered down for the trip home.

Thanks,
zim

No pto shield but there is a cast bracket on the left fender. There's an aftermarket light attached to it but I don't think it's been modified. I didn't pay much attention to it.

Maybe it's just this area, but with 30+ red tractors running around only one came through the gate with a pto shield and I don't think it's even the right one!

Those rear wheel cast hubs look like the ones that would be on an I-9. You sure the tractor is not an ID-9?

Now there's a term new to me - "boomered down." I like it and know what it means just from the sound of it!

"Boomered" doesn't pass my computer's spellcheck, either. ;-)

Centex Farmall- Would you want to sell that tail light bracket, without the light if it comes off easily?

It's definately tagged as a WD9. What you're seeing is a massive 3" thick weight that is the same diameter as the wheel. Behind that is the familiar hub with the triangular cutouts.

I see now what the weight is. It sure looks similar to the massive solid cast wheel hubs that are on my I-6. I'm gonna take a look in the parts catalog and see if I find any weights like that.

The notches perfectly match the wheel clamps. The finish on it and it's other half on the inside of the wheel are fairly rough. I'll have to look at it closer for an IH part number. Maybe it's aftermarket.
