oil pressure gauge

After continuously destroying #1 rod bearing on bd145 diesel, I"ve discovered there is no oil pressure. I"m going to clean oil pump screen and replace filter. My question is, is there any way to install electric gauge. The mechanical unit hole is real close to block. The flimsy nylon hose on mech seems to be binding and crimping.

Maybe you should be looking at the oil pump.

It is pumping some oil,Very light pressure pushing oil up into tube. I"m hoping it is clogged screen or filter.f not, I"ll replace the pump.

Speaking of the oil pump, is it a simple pull and re-install? I know it connects to the cam shaft, so I'm trying to figure if it's major and needs a shop. That involves a whole lot of distance.

drop the pan and pull the oil pump cover, sounds to me like its warped and once the oil gets up to temp its not holding pressure. I had a '44 BN that had low oil pressure, re-surfaced the oil pump cover, put a new gasket in and it was good to go. easy simple fix.
