I imagine that any of you experts can answer this question, I am just curious as to why there are two different lengths of bolts holding the oil pan on.
I am moving along nicely, but slowly, mostly due to this "everlasting winter" , and am starting to put parts, new and old(cleaned and painted) back on the engine.

Its important to remember where the long ones go as they go thru the front and rear seal assy center on on each end of the pan goes thru a blind hole and threads into that part of the seal assy and can strip out very easy do not over tighten them

Because of the front and rear main bearings.
If I recall correctly, there are at least 3 different lengths of pan bolts. Be careful to use the right ones or you can strip threads.

I just started taking out the bolts yesterday and when got them all loosened I started to take them out and when I realized they were not the same.. took note (as in wrote down) where they had to go back in..

thanks for the quick answer.
