Planter monitor selection

I have a 6row 800 cyclo corn planter and a 13row cyclo 800 bean planter I built. I am looking for a midrange type population monitor. I have seen some priced for about $850 and I am willing to pay that but I am not familiar with them or the sensors required. If you could give me some guidance on this or perhaps have a good used one available I would appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

My 2 cents

I don"t think you can get a new population monitor for $800 unless you are just talking about the monitor box itself.

The seed sensors are close to $100 each themselves.13 equals $1300 for your 13 row. Then you need wire harness, a speed sensor and the monitor itself.

Seed monitors are very touchy and buying used may be an issue unless you find a seller that will be honest about condition.

Gary is right, I had to replace a couple of sensors on my Cyclo 800 last year and they were over $100 per unit. $850 must be just for the cab unit. By the time you do the sensors and the harness you will be way more into it.

There is a company called sensor-1.com that has NEW population monitors for all makes of planters and drills. The system that I am thinking about ordering is kind of expensive but the man I talked to at the National Farm Machinery Show said it was the easiest one to operate. The monitor cost's $1485.00 with each sensor costing $87.45 and as far as the wiring harness goes that varies on the type and number of rows the planter is (no set price in their catalog).
