Speaking of 56 series shifting...

Would a slightly bent clutch disk cause the clutch pedal to be hard to push?

After Dad had the DT360 bus engine installed in the 756, you had to be Jahunga the Enormous to push the clutch pedal.

Dad had to split it recently to address an oil leak, and he found the clutch disk was bent!

All he replaced was the clutch disk, but now the pedal pushes easy, like it did back when it had a gas engine in it.

The only thing that I can relate to the issue is the adjustment of the clutch assist system (if it has one) that uses MCV pressure. A bent disk only makes the travel to full release longer, and engagement some what softer. Difficult shifting might also be a result if it drags when fully depressed. Jim

No hydraulic assist on the clutch.

When we put the tractor back together this time, it fell together EASY.

The time before, they had a heckofa time getting it back together, and that's probably when the clutch plate got bent.

Was there some possible binding in the linkage, or T/O bearing misalignment that would cause overpressure?
Binding would seem to be the only reasonable cause.
Unless the PP was changed and it had different spring rates in the coils. Jim

On the 06,56,66,86 series tractors I always put the pressure plate and disk on the trans input shaft first, the join the tractor then reach up from the access hole on the bottom and bolt the pressure plate to the flywheel. No chance of bending things that way.
