Hi All: Working on the rolling basket case of a 2500B that I purchased in December. have been putting pieces of the tractor back together.
So I got as far as starting it up again and no Steering, no Quick Reverser function.
I drove it into the barn under it's own power but now it will not move. and the steering still will not work.
I have changed the filter and cleaned the screen attached to the MCV.
I have overfilled the sump to almost the top of the dip stick (over the level of the MCV) It still seems that I am not getting pressure out of the pump to the steering and the other systems.. FYI the IPTO and the 3 point lift both seem to work. Can anyone point me towards the next step to try?
Andrew.

Hi Andrew, 574 and 454 are same hydraulic, from
the archives:
Hi Joe, on the 454, the oil pump feeds the
steering in priority, then the remote, hitch, PTO
and brake. The flow-divider valve give 3 GPM to
the power steering and 9 GPM to the hitch system.
When the valve is stuck in the bottom, you have no
power steering, no PTO and if stuck in top, you
have no hitch, no remote. Remove the plug and the
spring, put a container under the hole, start the
engine and pull the remote lever. The flow-divider
valve goes out in the container. Sand the valve
with a 400 sand-paper and try again. Change the
filter if it's old. Maybe you have dirt in the
oil, check in the filter housing when you open it.
When the filter is full of dirt, it has a by-pass
valve that opens and allows the oil to go directly
to the pump via a screen. In this case, dirt can
go in the system and cause your problem. Hope this
help you.

Thanks "JimB2" I looked for 574 or 2500 in my search. Just NOW I had taken the fitting loose the power steering line form the MCV to see if I had any pressure but the P.O of this tractor or who ever worked on it last had striped the tube fitting! I got to loosen it two turns and it poped loose and now I can not get it to thread back on  This tractor is just fighting me, nothing is simple.....
Thanks for the reply.
Andrew.
