C113 tech question

This is one of those "mechanic nerd" questions:

Is there any difference between a C113/C123 and a U2 power unit? Specifically, would the former bolt up to a SAE #5 bellhousing / SAE A-A size rockford clutch as a stationary engine? Or did IH have a proprietary bolt pattern on the bell housing?

My inquiring mind wants to know.

TIA

On all U2s that I have seen, the starter faces forward in front of the flywheel instead of toward the back as in a tractor. The rear flange of the block is cast with a cutout to allow this. When a U2 block is installed in a tractor only 5 of the 6 bolts can be used as the starter cutout eliminates the use of one bolt. BTDT!

Using a tractor block as a power unit should work if you want to hand crank it or do major metal removal on the block to clear the starter.

There are flywheel housings that appear to be SAE but have never measured to be sure.

Thank you, gentlemen.

IF I was going to use a SA motor for stationary power, hand cranking the 'lil 113 would not a problem. I have other ideas in mind (that if revealed would at least temporarily get me in a lot of hot water with the better half - "you want to do what with MY tractor???")

Some time when (if) the weather breaks and I have a few spare moments I will split a parts A and measure up the bellhousing to see if it jibes with the SAE specs, here: http://www.perfprotech.com/store/app_themes/ppt/images/tech-specs/bell_housing_dimensions.pdf

Just thought I'd ask the experts here first, and I'm glad I did.

Thanks again,

Just for everyone's information (next time someone someone pulls out a game of IH Trivial Pursuit), I came up with the answer I was looking for.

According to the owners manual for the "Farmall A, B, BN, C and U2 Power unit", on one of the last pages, it says 'the U2 is equipped with a SAE #4 bellhousing, and SAE #6 1/2 flywheel'.

Guess I need more blizzarding days with which to actually read the manuals.

Now back to my regularly scheduled work on taxes... (oh joy)
