Updates for old Farmalls

I always enjoy seeing the improvement people make on their old workhorses. What are some of the best improvements you guys have done, or seen? I'm thinking a Saginaw rates pretty high.
I've got an "A" I'm thinking about adding a small hydraulic setup onto, maybe even fabricating a little 3 pt for it, an old power steering pump possibly. Bad idea or not?
Pictures are always great to see here too.

Old ps pumps work well for 'added' hydralics on
older tractors.I personally know of three tractors
with that system.JD 'D';AC 'WC',and a homemade
'garden' tractor....

From home made cabs to hand made transmissions and adapted engine transplants mechanically minded Farmers have been putting modifications on tractors since the days of the first steel plow. Some are easy like an umbrella pipe clamp, some are worthless (for farming), like putting a 409 V8 in a Farmall H, but all are an adventure. I like them and have more modified vehicles/tractors than not. Jim

Here is a "canned ham" set up on my '47 A. Has down force that will lift the back of the tractor off the ground. In the last photo the ripper was turned around for breaking tire beads.

I put a 3 pt hitch on my 49 C. Was not crazy about using they original lift system to operate it. I bought one of those bypass blocks for these tractors and mounted a 2 way valve and hydraulic cylinder to the platform and run my 3 pt hitch with it. It really works good when you need some down pressure.

I cleaned up the hydraulic remotes on my super m. Moved the
battery under the gas tank and mounted a 3 spool valve under
the seat and linked some 56/66 style levers to it. The other
lever is for the 3pt. Really happy with how it turned out

NICE!

We put an M&W power steering and a hand clutch on our M back in the mid 1960's. Really made it nice for sickle bar mowing, square baling and cultivating.
