1944 Farmall A Fuel cap

I was out plowing snow with my 1944 Farmall A last night, and it shut off like I turned it off. Would not restart - and it was maybe 5 degrees out( I can"t beleive how cold it is) I looked at the fuel bowl and it was like I had shut off the valve - I opened the fuel cap and it had a vaccum. I know the fuel caps are vented but this original one must be clogged, any way to clean it? Or should I just buy a replacement? Thanks, Keith

Some caps you can clean the vent on and some are next to impossible to do so depends on the cap. Some times a guy can soak one in a good carb cleaner or in gas and that will open the vent

Get a Free replacement cap from The law suit. You will need your serial # to answer the form questions. Usually takes a few weeks but has happened in a day or two.
The cap website is: http://www.ihgascap.com/index.aspx

It is the original. Its not rusted at all and it is the type that comes to a peak in the top and says "use clean fuel" Buy clean fuel" or someting like that. Thanks for the help.

I ordered a cap off the recall website -thanks for that info... I do plan to soak the original and blow it out like suggested. I guess I should clean it after 60 years of service :)

Got my free gas cap in the mail today - I feel like I won the lotto, not only did I get great free advice, but I got the replacement part that does the fix for free too... Thanks a lot for that info. Keith
