Int'l 504 Brakes

My dad has had his 1963 International 504 since the early 1970's. He'd like to rebuild the brakes for the first time since he's had it (they are very weak) and I'm going to help. Neither one of us has had these type of disc brakes apart before. We've looked at quite a few drawings, but that's no substitute for experience. Would you fellas mind letting me know what to look out for and what parts typically have to be replaced? Disc linings for sure, but maybe the balls, springs, steel plates, links, plates, etc? Thanks for the help.

They're real simple to work on. Unscrew the pedal linkage from the front. Remove 5 (or 6?) bolts from the drum. Remove the drum. Everything else hangs on the pinion shaft under the drum. Brake disk, actuator, brake disk.

If the brakes are just weak, all it probably needs is just a good cleaning and new disks. IMHO, no lube period, but some people recommend a little graphite on the balls.

I had one side hanging up on my 504 Farmall. I was sure I would find a bad grease seal, I was happy to see nothing more than rusty ramps and one worn out disc. It is back together, but the test run will be in March(when it is warmer)

Thanks for the guidance guys. Doesn't sound bad at all. I was expecting the worst, but I'll get prepared with a new set of brake pads and that'll most likely take care of it.
