new type throw-out bearing for the cubs

Has anybody used the new type throw-out bearing for the cubs. They turn like any other bearing. I think it would be better than the graphite one. Let me know if you used one and if they hold up better than old type.

After another graphite bearing exploded, went to the new type. No issues with it except there is a lot of vibration when partially engaged, particularly noticeable when backing up. Not sure if that is related or an alignment problem or something.

If you check farmallcub . com, results are mixed. There are some who swear by them and a lot who swear AT them.

The graphite bearings don't last long unless you use the CHEAPEST, POOREST grease available to grease them. The bearing depends on the oils separating from the cheap grease and soaking through the graphite to keep the face lubricated. If you go using fancy-pants deluxe grease, they will explode sooner rather than later due to lack of lubrication.

With the roller type bearing, the misalignment between pressure plate and throwout causes a "scrubbing" action on many/most Cubs that chews up this style bearing right quick.

When I rebuilt my 1948 Cub back in the late 90s I went to the new throwout bearing(no carbon) and never had any trouble with it

Someone did post the clearence between the thro-out bearing and pressure plate fingers from a Blue Point manual dont remember but it is important in setting the clutch pedal lash.. Those graphite ones have been around for many yrs and lubes have been changed since they were new.
