german diesels

Got a question about the german diesels, namely the D-310's. I have a tractor with one that has been rebuilt but it seems to have excessive blow by. I've had other german diesels ( D-358 and D-239 ) that had nearly none. This tractor runs great. Just curious if this is normal or there's something else to look for. The venting from the crankcase seems to be steady and not irregular.

I'd say the rings are not yet seated.Go and work the snot out of it for several days.Get up to temp, get it warm .Those Germans need to be worked, they dont like to 'loaf'.

If its had newer style pistons put in there will be more blow by they have 3 rings old ones had 4 think the old sealed better than newer style

Who rebuilt it? The shop that did our one 1066 used 3 different pistons, and half the valve guides were wrong. We switched oils and put a valve cover breather on it to stop the oil use, and found out 10+ years later what happened when it finally dropped a valve.
