Super A Hydraulic Fluid

While repainting my Super A I'm decided to replace
the temp gauge for the touch control. I didn't
realize it would still be under presser so when I
pull the wire out the fluid went everywhere! Now
that it's all drained out I need to replace it.
I"m sure it needed to be replaced anyway. My
question what do I need to replace it with and how
much? I looked through my operators manual but
it didn't give any info other than how to operate
the touch control system.

Thanks!
Allen

It only takes a gallon or so.The amount will be listed in Capacitys/Specification section of the Owners manual.Use regular Hydralic oil.'Hi-tran'(or equivalent),or 10 wt nondetergent motor oil will also work.

I use Hy-Tran (I believe it's actually called Hy-Tran Ultra now) from caseIH. Most people tell you any good hydraulic fluid will work but I prefer Hy-Tran.

Thanks....I just found an old metal jug of IH Hy-tran in the back of the barn. But I better buy a new can of it.

Thanks DeltaRed....I'll take a look at my manual again. I was looking in the wrong section.

Can't remember for sure but my Super C has a screen filter in side of the reservoir where the touch control cable goes in I think the Super A will also have this might want to take out a clean before refilling.

The screen that kevin refers to is held in by 4 bolts in the plate from which you removed the temp gauge sending bulb. Be careful when pulling out the screen as they are fraigle. So far as I know only available from CIH and $$$$$. Buy a new gasket or be prepared to make a new one. Don't ask how I know this.

asyrp43, if you want to get rid of that can, and if it's in reasonably good shape, let me know. My email's open.

thanks!
Al
