Hydraulic leak

I am repairing a hydraulic leak on a 1949 H. The oil is leaking out of the belly pan cover. What will I run into when I remove this cover? Is this machine fitted or gasketed cover?

It is either trans fluid, Engine oil, or hydraulic oil from the liftall. All are to be found in that compartment if one of the seals leaks. There are no fluids supposed to be in there. Open it up (it could have a little in it but it is a "dry" compartment including the clutch. Jim

Betcha it"s the transmission seal leaking, a pretty straightforward replacement. Remove two bolts holding on the cover and you"ll see. You just unbolt things from underneath to get the transmission seal out. Only complication I had on my 1950 H was the two-bolt drive coupling did not want to come off, had to rig up a puller and extract it. Be very careful with those 4 tapered bolts that hold the rubber-bushing-coupling on, they"re pricey. You can get new rubber washers for that, just go on eBay and look for 1 1/8" x 1/4" x 1/2" hole rubber washers. Cheap. About $1 each.
