H Blocked-Off Radiator

Ran the H down the highway last night, several miles, and I completely blocked off the air flow to the rad with a piece of carpet. [Red, looks good.] Ran great, got up to 175F or so, but does this do any damage to the water pump, or bearings, or fan bearings? Is no air flow OK?

Does not hurt a thing, just keep it balanced so that the fan does not pull off center. I have thought about choking down the thermostat bypass on mine so it warms up better.

I made this winterfront from a piece of red canvas. It completely blocks the radiator when fully closed. With it in place the temp runs 180 - 190F.

It operates about 75 hours every winter with no problems whatsoever.

Does not hurt a thing. Just think about how many older machines came out of the factory with shutters and what your doing is pretty much the same as shutters do

Lot of H's and M's with weak fan blades. Small cracks. I think a carpet would let some air through, depends on material, so not as much strain on the blades.
