Has anyone purchased the engine rebuild dvd from steiner for the mta? Is it worth the money? Working on a 400 and have never worked on a farmall before but have worked on older tractor engines. Would this dvd be of any help?

Take pictures and videos during the tear down. They will come in handy during the rebuild. Separate the parts as you remove them, place in cardboard boxes then mark the boxes where they were installed or removed from. Hal

I have a TA video on the SMTA/400/450.Certainly helped,was informative.....Was well worth the time/money.But it is not the'be all/end all".You still NEED the book(s).

far as I am concernd spec"s are spec"s and engines are engines and really don"t know what a dvd would do, unless a person is a real beginner and has no concept of deciding what is good, what is worn , and what has caused the problem and why.
hands on is the best experience a person can get.
how can a 400 farmall engine be different than say a 400 case engine.
ooh the case has 2 heads.

I had a Chrysler mini-van, and i had to take the upper part of the engine apart for some work. Fortunately, i had put the parts in several cigar boxes, and labelled the boxes. I got it all back together, with no parts left over, or missing. WHEW!! RJ

I had to pull the head on a 4 cyl Mercury Lynx one time. I bought a bag of multi-colored plastic wire ties. Put a pair on almost everything I disconnected. For reassembly just matched colors, and re-attached wires-lines-etc. Just a hint.
