Questioning what is the best to use to clean out the gas tank, that has mild rust in it. Also.. I see a partition in it, about 1/2 way back from the filler hole.. is that just a baffle ? I also want to take off the cultivator levers, etc.. they are a pita to work around.
Also on the air cleaner, does the screen come out or should it just be soaked and blown out to clean.

(sorry for the seemingly simple questions, but I am a "getting long in the tooth" old gal who loves doing this kind of thing)

I used muriatic acid to clean a tank once and it will do the job, BUT, wear your rubber gloves and safety goggles and keep your nose away from that tank opening. I used RED KOTE to seal the tank after cleaning.

Use muriatic acid in the tank; search below for instructions on how to use. The air cleaner should just be soaked in parts cleaner or equal and let it drip dry.
Suggest that a service manual & parts manual will be your best friend.
I enclosed a link to the on-line parts lookup.
My son, (Eastsider) can offer assistance; he totally rebuilt his model A recently.
