hard to start M

When I go to start the old M it will crank and not attempt to fire. After I try it a few times and play with the choke it will start to fire and act like it is flooded. Once it is running it will run for hours with no issue and if I shut it off it will start right up. Is it possible that the timing is to far retarded or do I just have a carb problem?

Sounds like there is prolems with the idle circut in the carb.

Some fuels leave deposits on plugs that make cold firing difficult. Try putting a new set in it (Autolite). Also check the coil output. 1/4 inch bright blue spark is the rule. Jim

full choke on for a couple of cranks, then choke full off.
