what wires and plugs are recommended also condenser cross ref to napa numbers. I have a problem with m not starting weak spark , does not fire. went through carb , and pulled off intake exhaust , cleaned and put back ,ignition switch good shows negative on ammeter when pulled out, thought I would start with coil and condenser as this tractor has been hammered and the guy I got it from ran straight from battery to coil .

Try points & condenser first. Adjust the gap first and then clean the point surfaces with lacquer thinner or equal. Dry the points and see if your problem goes away.

Bad points or points set wrong will cause that. Now days you stand a 5-/50 chance you can get a good condenser right out of the box. I almost never replace them now days but points can and will cause problems like your having

before throwing money at parts what is the volt reading at the coil where batt volts should be. Next just clean the points piece of cardboard match book cover can work just fine. Does the batt voltage stay when starter is enguaged. Everyone seems to start throwing money at parts when most of the time its just something simple as it ran when it was shutoff the last time it was used and parts dont just fail setting there not to say new parts can improve but do the simple things first.

well, first of all better make sure you have the wire type plug wires , not automotive resistor type wires. big difference. seen many of these old tractors with automotive wires and thats not the ticket, then wonder why poor spark!

I have never had a problem with Car Quest points and condensor? Good sold copper wire plug wires are needed. last set I got were from Brillman Company and were of a very good quality.
