Would it be better to stay with a positive ground or could I change it to a negative ground?
Is there a wiring diagram available on the net?

It does not matter which unless you put in an alternator. in which case negative ground is easier and cheaper.

To set it up negative ground, put the battery in with negative ground. Do not stert it. Use a piece of #10 wire (solid wire copper with vinyl insulation is good) to jump across the regulator from Bat to Arm terminals. You will need to reverse the wiring on the amp meter as the meter will read backwards if you do not. Jim

Mine has been running fine on 6 volt positive ground since 1951. Why change it?

I would like to leave it original. R u still using the generator. If the battery is dead , can u jump it off with a 12 volt battery?

Why change ground your reg wont like it and then you will need to find a 6v neg grnd regulator to bolt where the present one is. Just leave it pos gnd.

I am still using the generator. You can jump it if you know what you are doing. Best to charge the battery & find out why it is dead.
