correct starter for Farmall A

Hello I was looking at my starter today. It has 1107021 stamped
into the case on the starter. No tag on it. Looks to be set up for
12v has voltage regulator on the fuel tank support. I want to
have it a 6v system. Is this the correct starter for the A? What
about the voltage? Thanks
My tractor is a 1945. My buddy tractor is a 1941 an has the same numbers on it. His has a tag on it

Most likely your starter has gone through a rebuilders shop. Often all the tags are removed when they are rebuilt because the tag is very specific as to what the starter is but the same case may be used on dozens of different starters. Without the tag the rebuilder will just use the correct case to build the starter they want and then just stamp the number on them. Most rebuilts today don't even get the number stamped into the case. They just slap a paper tag on the starter to identify it. That can cause some problems when they come in for repair.

A lot of the smaller, newer Delco starters (656 and newer) do not have the tag on them. They just have a number stamped into the case. If they have been rebuilt they often have the wrong numbers on them. When I repair them I stamp the correct numbers on the case. That makes it a bit easier for me is I should have to repair them again in the future.

I told you that is the correct starter and should have a button for the sw to push the rod to start. The reg should be on the gen and you should have a gen ending with either 355 or 423 and a cutout. If a reg is used the wiring needs to be shanged from original as the wire from the field does not go to the lite sw and you must get the correct reg for those gens as they have the third brush adjustable.

How many systems do you have as other post said the gen was a 355 with cut-out on top of gen now the reg has moved to a reg mounted on the gastank.

This tractor is set up for 12 volts. Has the voltage regulator on it. My plan is to put it back to a 6 volt system. Just wanted to make sure that the parts that I have will be for the 6 volt system.
