What's involved with a valve job on a 47 Cub. Sounds like looking at a IT manual the valves are in the block. I have had several valve jobs done on the letter series but just learning how to work on a Cub. Will the whole block have to go to the shop. Do shops charge more because of that than if I'm just dropping off a head.

Remove the head and valves then you can see if the seats need replacing. If they need replacing the block will need to be removed. Find some help from someone who can tell you.

yes the block has to be at machine shop. but you can load tractor on a trailer and haul it there, but you will have to check with them on that, as space is a factor in some shops. the seats need resurfacing or replacing and thats machine shop work.
or ... if you know of a mechanic that does this work then he can do the seats at your place, as the seat grinder is very portable.

the right guy can do the job in the tractor , ive done it before , seats can be replaced too with a portable seat cutting set ,if you happen to be close to me in PA i have tools to do job
