A few plumbing questions

I'm going plumb the Saginaw hitch this weekend, I was going to run a single line from the right side to a tee and then a line to each cylinder.

1. What size hose should I use w/belly pump?
2. what port on the cylinder do I plumb into (top or bottom)? (I think its the bottom but want to make sure)
3. Do I need to add a "breather" plug to the other port, I thought I read that in the archives somewhere?

thanks fellas, Anthony

The ports on the belly pump are 1/2 inch pipe, so you need to use 1/2 inch hydraulic hose. Standard galvanized pipe fittings will work just fine for the "tee", elbows, etc.

Whatever's most convenient for you.

The swivel is so you can make that final connection without having to do something awkward like remove the hydraulic cylinder and turn it to thread that last fitting in.

Look at the Saginaw web site, or maybe it was on ebay, shows a picture of the tee's etc. Both cylinders need breathers--I thought they came that way, they did 10 years ago. My new one isn't here yet.

My lines go in the bottom of the cylinder. I don't recall if the breathers came with it or not. I don't have any swivels at on on my lines, Dad had a quick disconnect at the pump, and just used whatever hose was available around the shop. So when I moved the 3pt to another tractor, I just used what he had, and its still there. Im sure Ill have to do something later, but for now its working.

Wait, I told you wrong, the Worksaver is set up that way, the Saginaw is plumbed to the bottom, teed near the top of the hitch, and one line to the pump. There are swivels in those lines.
