1586 hydraulic line connection

This should be an easy question. Don't shoot me, these are different than the other 7 tractors and I swear I am doing what the manual says. SO...if I want to connect a remote cylinder...I raise the little lever on the tractor remote connection and then what? I pull it toward me and the collar on the tractor fitting moves but the fittings don't want to mate. Possible I have the wrong style on the male side? In the past I have only used two different types...one with a cone end and one with a ball end. Guess it is time to get educated again. Help!

The remotes probably are using the old IH style tip. It is larger than a pioneer/ISO tip.
