364 anti freeze leak

When I changed the oil in my 364 with the 154 diesel engine last month I found about 2 tablespoons of anti freeze in it. So I put in a bottle of Barrs stop leak, the copper type, and ran it for about 1/2 hour. The oil pan was leaking around the gasket so I got a new gasket and tore into it today. There was no anti freeze that I could see in the oil but after I got the oil pan off I noticed 1 drop on the bottom of the front sleeve. It doesn't seem to be leaking as it sets so I am planning on putting it back together and checking the drain plug from time to time. I don't use this tractor much so I am hoping I can get by. What about putting non pressurized radiator cap on it? What do you folks on here think?

Well I have it back together and am going to do some bush hogging to see what happens. I'm hoping the stop leak will help. I'll keep my fingers crossed. thanks for the reply.

Phil, many years ago my Dad had the fan belt break on his 454 with D-179 Diesel while plowing. Before he noticed the temp gauge was well in the red and the rad boiling over. After the boil over it would leak coolant into the crankcase over night when it was cool. He had to finish plowing and other fall work before he could have O-rings replaced. So he only put rad cap on just enough to hold it and every morning he would open crankcase drain plug enough to let coolant drain. But as weather got colder it would leak more and if he was not using for a few days he would drain the coolant out of the block. After he was finished with the tractor, he had the local IH dealer replace the cylinder O-rings. My brother has the tractor today and it has well over 15,000 hours on it and engine is still running strong.
I am not recommending the above as it is your tractor. I am just stating my Dad's experience, be it good or bad.

Well I don't use this tractor in the winter anyway. Mostly is just for raking hay. I was thinking if it gets too bad I may drain the anti freeze and just run water in the summer. I'm getting along in years and have no children or grandchildren interested in keeping things going. I have other tractors so it is not like this is badly needed. I just liked it to rake with.
