N was 1967 and yes some castings were made later as replacement parts. Have a NOS head for those engines with a cast date of 1975 sent to IH from a foundry in Oklahoma. Know that M to 450 replacement blocks that are cast later than production can be found with C-248, C264 or C281 and are really the same casting except for the size number on the side. What is the casting number on the block?

The number is 364265R1. The assembly number is 364266R93. It's neat to see that IH kept casting what would, in this day & age, be obsolete. I'll get some pictures on later. There's an odd plate on the left side of the block that I don't recognize. Might be a cover for a fuel pump hole, but the cam is on the other side. So....?

Yes that's a replacement block number. Fuel pump could be mounted on the carburetor side and the block was drilled behind the plate for a push rod to camshaft. IH also used that block for a SH block replacement. But when used to replace a original SH block it required a different Piston and sleeve set.
Well, if I did this right, there should be a bunch of pictures on your end of the string. If not, I'll try again tomorrow when I'm more awake.
Yes, it looks like there should be a fuel pump where the plate is. There's a support for a pushrod near the cam area.
I'd really didn't think I would run across such a find as this & I'd like to source as many NOS parts as I can for this project. The engine will eventually end up in my '42 H & power my mower & hay conditioner. It looks like a Firecrater set (@ Weber's) is in order for this job, but I just don't know if I want to keep it a 169 or bore it to a 175. I'd guess the 47 predicted HP for the 169 with the Firecrater set should be plenty enough power for the job. The H was a stock job & 26 HP was ok in average hay. The armpit high 1st crop we had this year was a bit much for it. The blasting medium in the engine may not have been much of a help, either.
