It seems to me that the IH diesels were smokier than competitor's engines. Probably nothing wrong with your tractor. This coming from a proud smoky 806 owner. -Andy
 
Smoking when. They often puff a lot of white bluish smoke when idle until warmed up good. Black smoke under load would mean someone has increased the fuel setting as most have.
 
Ive got a 1086 that'll put the lights out just from using the turning brakes,or just taking off,but especially at low rpm's..It still rolls the coal on a pull,but not as bad when on hard pull with turbo whistlin.A lot of the smoke clears up then
