I changed out the transmission oil in my 560 Diesel. I used Hy-Tran from IH dealer. Started up, no power steering, no fast hitch! I added 11/2 gallons of Hy-Tran , the rest of what I have. Can I add transmission oil from Fleet Farm. It is a lot cheaper and the most of it is Hy-Tran?

There is a reason the FF oil is cheaper. Much lower quality oil. You are wasting your time changing it if you are going to mix it with a low quality oil.

If you are going to use "Farm Fleet" oil, get the stuff that is marked as HYTRAN COMPATIBLE.

There are two schools of thought on this:

1. Yes, no problem.
2. No, you will ruin your tractor.

You will get about the same number of people giving you each of those answers. You will not get out of this discussion with any better idea of what to do than you had before.

The reality is, as long as it's wet and slippery, and doesn't say "play sand" on the package, it'll work just fine.
