450 PTO

My 450 pto lower shaft that goes to the brake band has developed a leak. Has anyone replaced this before if so where did you get the seal.

I got the out-put shaft seal from the IH dealer. It was the newer kind, so it just went in further. You should be able to get seals. Bands might be another issue.

After you remove the parts from the shaft it can be dug out of the housing, but not easy sometimes.
dent puller or slide hammer works sometimes with metal screws into the metal case if the original seal. Try not to move the shaft or push in when installing parts back. Use something to spread the little lever that goes on the shaft when going back. If the above doesn't work. Rear of the pto needs removed.
NAPA 7572 works, only 1/4 inch wide though. 71599C91 dealer. New number for me so don't know the width.

There is a shop in Shreveport, Louisiana, that will re-line your bands. Can't remember the name, but I don't think that they are all that uncommon. I had mine done about three years ago, and they were about one fourth the price of new ones from Caseih!
