I have a farmall 806 propane. It runs really well, but it seems no matter what I do, shredding or pulling a IH-510 grain drill it used about the same amout of fuel. can some one tell me what is considered normal fuel usage for this tractor. Thanks

Not everyone seems to have the same experience, but on our farm a gas tractor uses about the same amount of gas whether it's plowing or raking hay.

Lots! Roughly 6 gallons per hour under light loads in most cases up to over 9.6 gph under full load. Course even the tiny loads are tested at Wide Open Throttle.

The tractor will literally burn 3 gph running WOT and accomplishing zero work so a fuel miser it will not be. Propane is cheaper right now though, and it burns clean, and no carburetor to crud up from old stale gasoline so there are still some benefits.

Here is link to full Nebraska test report (may need to copy and paste it to your browser).

I have no experence with propane and have never had a 806 gasser for that matter just lots of 706 gassers . With them it all depends on what your doing as to how much fuel ou can suck thru them in a day . also how well they are tuned make a HUGE difference . I can mow with a 9 foot John Deere 1219 haybine , rake twice and move bales off 28 acres on one tank of gas and this is not on flat land . On first cutting with pulling the hills running the haybine the 706 is working it's donkey off in third low with the T/A ahead and the carb is wide open and having a hard time trying to stay a PTO speed . When raking i run second high at around 15-1700 RPM .

Checked Nebraska Tractor Test #861----806 LP at full load and 2400 rpm used 9.6 gallons per hour. At 2072 rpms it used 8.3 gallons. At 3/4 load useage was 8.275 gallons. We have an 806 LP wheatland. Hope this helps.
