Help with Cub PLEASE.

Ive got a 50 Cub Demonstrator. It has clutch/throw out bearing problems. Ive had it apart twice. First to replace the throw out bearing. Clutch disc looked fine. I bought a new disc, but they looked so much alike that I returned it. Couldn't get the clutch to deactivate after putting it together. Took it apart again. Tried to adjust the inside rod./ Couldn't. Whoever in times back had it messed up the stuff inside. The yoke holes that go into the cross pin had been welded onto the yoke. There was no threads on the adjustment shaft.
It worked for me 2 years before this with no problem much. I finally had to adjust the pedal adjustment. I tried that yesterday, both ways. No go.

I don't want to sell her, but I don't know how to fix her. HELP Please.

If your Cub has the adjustment at the pedal, there isn't supposed to be an adjustment inside, AFAIK. Early Cubs adjusted the pedal free play internally, but only the real early ones. Obviously it is a royal pain in the hind-end to adjust up inside.

Newer Cubs have the clutch pedal free play adjustment at the base of the pedal.

Did you adjust the fingers on the pressure plate? They are supposed to be 1-1/4" from the back surface of the pressure plate frame to the highest point on the fingers where they rub on the throwout bearing.

You can shine a light up in the hand hole, and look through the upper implement mounting bolt hole in the bell housing to see what is happening. If the hole is plugged, just poke whatever it is out; it's usually just a chunk of cork.

I don't know what/where an (upper implement mounting hole is, BUT, on the bell housing, one of the upper bolt holes was plugged, and both times I intended to get that unplugged, and forgot it both times till I had it bolted back and ran onto it running the bolts in.

Seems like, IF I shined a light as you suggest, id be somewhat aiming at that location. Plugged or not. What would that have to do with anything?

I had trouble adjusting my "H" clutch, and found IH clutch adjustment manuals on line. I got two, sorry, but they do not mention Cubs. However you mught be able to Google or Bing on line, and find manuals.
