H no oil pressure update-thank you all

I ran out of daylight last night to work on the H since I was catching up on some things that had to be done before the rain came. Today I pulled the pan, the pickup was clean so I removed it and installed it on a pump from a parts tractor that had a squashed pickup. I put that pump on the tractor and put the pan back on and the oil back in and started it up and had a nice steady 40 psi, not great but not at all bad. I took the cover off the pump and could see where the gears had worn into the cover, I will try to fix it sometime to be another spare. I do not know the internal condition of the pump I put on but it seems to be better, at least somewhat. Thank you all very much, I am very grateful for all of the advice.

I will guess the pump you installed is somewhat worn also, but not as bad as the original. 40 psi is good enough unless you are working that H HARD.

zack, if the grooves are not too deep, you can lay a piece of emery paper on a thick sheet of glass and sand the cover smooth again. use a figure 8 pattern.

glennster, I tried that method on mine, but the grooves were simply too deep. I resoted to a bit more "crude" method (big flat file), and then finished up with the emory cloth trick. If there had been a milling machine handy (or machine shop), that would have been my first choice.

i did my farmall b oil pump with emery, it took a while but worked good. on the super m project i have now, i had a machine shop mill the cover, like yours, it was grooved too deep.
