That's a IH service bulletin. Looks like the reason they made it was because of complaints of premature bearing failure and increased steering effort when installed other than recommended. Is the bearing you have like the picture at the small OD end of the shell? Should be able to hold the shell and turn the race looking up in the picture and the race on the other end won't turn unless the shell turns with it. Bearing will get some grease in the tractor, but usually takes over greasing to do it. Good bit of grease may come out the bottom of the bushing before forced into the bearing.
