Crankshaft Gear Nut

This is my second restoration. I am restoring a 1941 Farmall H and I am trying to remove the nut from the crankshaft pully so I can remove it and ultimately rebuild the engine. I've tried to use a pipewrench and I can't get it to budge. I am planning on getting a socket for it. Any idea what size the nut is on the crankshaft pulley on the front of the engine? My guess is 1 3/4". Thanks!

I could measure one if nobody has it in their head. I have taken apart about 10 of those using a 24" and an 18" crescent wrench. I put one on the nut with the wrench handle sticking straight out and then put the other wrench on the head of the first one. This gives quite a lot of torque.

Get a six point 3/4 drive socket and use an air impact wrench. Make sure you're turning the nut CCW to loosen. Hal

why you guessing... just measure the nut. i kinda thought it was 2 1/2" but i will measure one tomorrow.

It's the M nut that's 2-1/2". An H is several sizes smaller (I can't recall the actual size).
