720 plow question

I recently got a buy on a 720 toggle trip plow on a consignment auction ($400.00). It was 6-18's witch was more plow than I could handle so I cut it down to a five bottom. My question is in the owners manual it shows the front spreader plate moved to the left one more set of holes on the five bottom than it does on the six bottom. How ever, it also shows the optional setting on the five bottom being the same as the six bottom on the normal setting. Should I move it?? Im In north iowa, heavy, heavy, black soil with no rocks. Also I assume Ill want the excentrics on the bottoms set on deep suck?

Don't be to concerned about witch hole you end up using. I set mine so front bottom cuts full width, and my wheels were always set on 30 inch centers. Tipping the nose of the bottoms down here in this heavy black gumbo will only make the plow pull harder. Keep decent rock lays on it and set the drawbar low enough to transfer weight to the tail and it should plow just fine.

Thanks for the input. After all the years of ripping I think its time to go back to plowing. I miss that perfect seed bed in the spring. Yes it takes more time and fuel but Im thinking it will pay off in soybean yelds the following year.

I forgot to mention that I use a cat. III cross bar to get the plow that far off set with 30 inch wheel spacing. it actually worked very well. both the tractor and the plow stay straight
