I am wanting to put a weight bracket on the front of my W9. The thread insert seems to be 11/16. (5/8 is to small & 3/4 is to big). The local IH dealer & Fastenal does not have this size. Any suggestions.

How many holes are the same size that cant be the only hole for a bracket. You probably have a worn area need to match it with other threaded ones in that area. Mite need a mag drill and then an insert heli-Coil so it matches the rest.

Sorry I looked also. I just figured they would have it as I have gotten odd sizes from them in the past. It looks like it is an obsolete size. You could have a machine shop or someone with a lath make them.

What do you mean by "thread insert"?

If the hole has been damaged and repaired with a Heli-Coil insert which than has been removed you will end up with an odd size hole. Heli-Coil uses there own special taps for their inserts.

Where is this hole located on the W9?

I just went out and checked the holes on my W9. All the holes in the front are 3/4" NC thread.

I would bet most anything that it is 3/4 NC thread. Run a tap in there and clean out the accumulated stuff and you will know.

That seems likely. 11/16 is not a standard size, and there would be no good reason not to use a standard bolt for that application.
