F-20 with overdrive

Finally got the F-20 running after being stuk for a while. I have owned it forabout 18months now I can"t get the overdrive to kik in. Does anyone have any ideas, or a breakdown on what to look for? Thanks

What brand do you have? I have a F-20 with a Behlen overdrive that when it's engaged you have to leave the tractor transmission in neutral. Heisler also made an overdrive that worked in conjunction with the regular transmission giving you 4 or 5 extra speeds, although I'm not sure they made them for a F-20. I had one in an M I had one time.

Heisler did make them for the F-20 Dad had one.

If you talking about a heisler overdrive, where you have a high and a low, it has synchronizers in it just like modern trans. they may by worn out, or you have a bearing shot, and if it is the heisler, the engine has to be moved forward to get it off the trans.
