Hello DeltaRed,
I"m picking one up this weekend, It"s all
there except the gauge wheel is it possible
to use the plow without it.

Thanks

Oh yes,Its possible to use without a gauge wheel. You just have to set your depth and draft closer, let the tractor 'carry' the plow and not the gauge wheel.I think the gauge wheel was an "option" that most plows were ordered with.I've plowed 'hundreds' of acres without a gauge wheel....You need more help, call me.(970)417-1178. Where are you located? What tractor are you useing and how many Bottoms?Yes,I know I'm being 'nosey'.

DeltaRed
I'm located about an hour NW of Milwaukee Wi
I have a Case {David Brown} 1490.
How wide do you set the tires.
Thanks

According to the book. From the center of the tractor to the inside of the raer tire: 14" bottoms= 26 1/2 inch.16" bottoms= 30 1/2 inch.I have good luck by setting the front 1-2" wider(on inside) than the rear.I dont have to 'hug' the furrow wall. You can order a book from 'Binder Books'.Under $20.

It may depend on the number of bottoms but we always set the wheels at 76" center to center the same as for 38" rows. We never moved the wheels. We were pulling three bottoms but the four bottom people were doing the same thing.
