Farmall 1066 cluncking sound in right rear axle area

My 1066 started making a clunking sound in the right rear axle area when I was cutting hay. I disconnected the diff lock valve and cleaned and reinstalled it but it did not help. Today I disconnected the actuator line from the valve and capped it off so no oil was getting to the diff lock clutch and it is still making the noise. Could this just be a bearing or something bigger? And the Hyd. oil is full.

Do you a set of wheel weights on the tractor? I had one come loose on my tractor and I thought it was a problem in the rear end, but it wasn't. Easy fix also

Yes I do have a set on it but I don't think that is the problem but tomorrow I'm going to jack it up and check all of the wedge's that hold the rim in place and I will check them as well. Thanks.

Had the same thing happen to my Kubota after I had it for 15 or more years. It was driving me crazy until I found the rear wheel lug nuts were loose on the left rear..

I had a rear wheel weight come loose and took it to get rear end fixed.Kinda like when you lose a chopper blade on combine.Easy fix but your first thought is the worst case scenerio.

"I don't think..." Don't think, CHECK.

Once per revolution is usually a loose lug or wheel weight.

I just got done working on this old beast. As usual with me I was thinking it was something major and didn"t think to look at the simple things first. It ended up being a simple little 3/4 inch bolt that went missing in the inner wheel weight (it has 2 sets on each side). And I want to thank everyone for pointing out the simple things that I, for some reason overlook. One other note when it comes to wheel weights the way the wheel is sitting can make a big difference in finding the problem.
