154 lowboy specs?

I am new to this board, usually hang around the Ford sites.
I recently bought a 1971 Cub Cadet 154. It needs tuned, but I don't want to just put the same # plugs back, in case some PO has put in the wrong ones. Can someone tell me the correct plug # along w/plug & point gap setting? On the older Fords I go one heat range hotter plug than original. Is that advisable on this engine? Also, is 10W30 advisable or 15W40?
Thanks!
Lynn

Cool to medium plugs if you plan on using it. Hot plugs if you just want to putter around at shows and parades.

As long as the oil is wet and slippery and labeled "engine oil" the tractor don't much care what it is. Whatever you buy for your vehicles or other tractors is just fine.

well i just bought a 1974 model 154 lo-boy also. from factory, sae 30 weight oil was recommmended. but now adays oils are much better. i plan on using # 40 in mine. 10-30 or 10-40 is fine also. 15-40 is more recommended for diesel engines but it will run on that too.
as for spark plugs i have not looked at them but am presuming they are the old champion D16's that came in these old ihc engines in basically all the tractors. but your napa dealer will have that info and go from there.

may as well add some color.
