cub touch control rebuild

Put in new o rings on touch control unit. The o ring on the piston went in with great difficulty, even with hydraulic oil as lubricant. I went ahead and reassembled , but cannot move the piston by hand. It will move with light tapping with a hammer. Is this likely to work or not when it's put back on tractor.? I have no experience with this.

They control 1200psi it will work like it should. It would be leaking if it was easy to move. My assumption is that the Oring is seated and not pinched. I also assume the cylinder is smooth and not rusty or scored bad. Jim

Thanks, Jim, for your prompt reply. The inside of the touch control was actually in great shape. No scoring, nicks of any kind. I sanded the end of the cylinder with fine crocus cloth to make it as smooth as possible, then lubed up the seal, but could not get the seal to go in without a little persuasion. The books says to turn the piston as you insert it, but the seal simply turned in the groove of the piston. Hope I didn't damage anything in reassembly. Thanks again for your comments.
