Super H belt pulley gear box.

I was cleaning up the belt pulley gear housing off my Super H just now and I poked a screwdriver through what appears to be a something like a freeze plug on the back end that faces the rear of the tractor that was very rotted. I hope that"s what it is and not a thin spot on the casting... Anybody familiar with these?

Yeah I didn't want to call it a freeze plug since I know there's no water in there. Looks pretty crusty, I can't tell where the plug ends and the housing begins... Im afraid to start chiseling at it because I don't want to have to disassemble the whole right angle drive to clean out all the flakes of crap that I'll create trying to get this thing out.

Put an air hose in the filler hose to put a few pounds of positive air pressure in the trans case (assumes some seals are working) and it will keep trash out. Or use a vacuum at the opening to suck chips. Or remove the drive to repair. Jim

I believe it is a cup style core plug, not a welch plug. Just have to drive it in to where it will seal.
