I ran the 656 diesel out of fuel. Now I can"t get the pump to pump fuel. I have good flow of fuel going into pump but can"t get anything out. Is there something simple I am missing or did I ruin the pump? Thanks for the help Jason

Jason, Another YTer here on the Forum told me this trick to get a IH Dsl to start.......
1.. get hood off!
2.. remove rubber hose between Air-cleaner and Intake
3.. get a 1qt oil squirt can w/ trigger pump, mix 50/50 gasoline and Dsl. Shoot and goodly amt into the intake (a large portion will go into #3 & #4 cylinders, will some lesser into #2 & #4 cylinders, and lesser yet in #1 & #6. Add a good dose of ether (only if you Glow plug system is suspect!!!! Do not use Glow plugs at all!! )
4 do step 3 while turning the engine over it should start in a little while.
I did this with a D282 IH Dsl and res-erected , a presumed dead 706 from the dead!
Hope this helps!

I had broke prime by putting new Filters on and such!

You did not say if you loosened up several injection lines to bleed the system while you were cranking it.If you did not, loosen several up at the injectors while you are cranking it, with the fuel level in the tank above the pump.

When you ran out of fuel, you must not have bled it properly before you tried to restart it. If so, you have air lock in the pump. Those little pumping plungers are now just compressing that air back and forth in the head and lines. Just take off two or three lines at nozzle and crank away until fuel shows up. Use full throttle and crank in short spurts so you don't cook the starter.

Just loostening the line nuts at the injector is not enough, best to tap the line and make sure the line sleeve pops loose. The SV7922 line sleeves wedge in tight each time the line nut is drawn down. I like to remove all glow plugs to allow engine to crank easier. When fuel is at each injector, then tighten the line nuts. Crank again until you see air/fuel mist at each glow plug port, install plugs and start engine after heating plugs. If you never get fuel you may have metering valve and/or stuck plungers. Or worse, a seized head/rotor assembly.
