going from a 6 volt generator to a 12 volt alternator, 12 volt alternator has a built in igniter we need the wiring diagram.

Put a 12 volt generator & regulator on. Keeps it original looking and wires up the same. Just my opinion.

I just bought a 801 for the neighbor and the battery was froze and busted. I unhooked the geny and used a 12 volt battery from my tractor to load it on the trailer. Will it hurt anything to use the 12 volt until I can get a alternator and bracket?

In all the 6v to 12v conversions I've seen, and done, the only thing needed is a voltage reducer for the spark plugs. Don't think it will hurt anything to start and run it for a while. Starter will turn faster, but the 6v generator will not charge the battery, but who cares.
